The first thing do be done was to create a datastore of significant events. Anyone could add an event, such as local media coverage, favorable reviews, or employee-of-the-month awards. Events also could be self-populated: triggered when some milestone or significant metric was achieved.
One display option was a stand of trees which grew or shrunk in response to the self-reported activity around each of the company’s core values. Each tree could be expanded to show the recent achievements that had contributed to its growth.
Another view was a small panel that could be launched into the corner of the user’s display (this is all before the existence of widgets). For senior executives, this display showed incoming good news, and provided enough information for them to contact the individuals involved and congratulate them. A simple check mark indicated that the folks involved had been contacted.
Several other views of the data were made available for more traditional reporting.
