The company’s intranet, Slice, had a home-grown content management index. Over time, I extended the functionality of the index to provide better navigation into business content.
In the past, guide pages on particular topics were created by hand using the declarative XML user interface library I developed. I was able to extend the index such that guide pages could be auto-generated per the user’s request.
This same extension provided the ability to map users to topics, creating opportunities for users to manage their own topic information without creating guides from scratch, or needing a developer’s assistance.
result Along with learning sessions to encourage use of the new scheme, a 30% increase in publication was achieved over the year prior to launch.
